Rooted In Faith

  • Is it in our anguish God whispers to us?
  • Could it be the EMOTIONS tied to our trials are used by God to remind us to cling to Him?

  • Feelings, then, can be described as the wind in the storms in our lives.  They bend and twist us making us feel ever so uncomfortable.  Some are b-r-e-e-z-y and others are G A L E  F O R C E.  So the question is then, do we have roots?  When things happen in our lives, whether a disagreement with a family member, problem at work/school, or larger scale like death of a loved one or job loss, are we uprooted and tossed about or do we DIG DEEPER in faith?

    James teaches us about faith:

“… you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

    James 1:6 (NIV)

Planting our seed of faith in Jesus Christ often begins very small.  When we first hear of Jesus or dig deeper to find him, our masks pretending to be brave or having all the answers are removed and our faith begins to deepen.  With each situation presented, we have learned that leaning on our own understanding has not allowed us to move forward but to step back in regret.  So, the seed of faith the size of a mustard seed begins to cultivate.  With each situation, we have an opportunity to continue to develop more roots and grow them stronger.  The manner in which we respond can demonstrate how we are being shaped in the image of Jesus.

From the most basic belief in Jesus Christ... studying His word, worshiping Him, and spending time with Him, our relationship with Him develops and grows.  Roots begin to form in Him as we hold on.  Then, we place one foot in front of the other to act on what we believe.  Awareness of His presence is known even when other voices beg to differ.  Growth and maturity occur as we blindly trust and follow Him.  Though we bend and twist with how we feel and what others say, we remain ROOTED and become more than we could ever imagine!

“… Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

    Luke 14:35 (NIV)

Listening to God is found deep within.  May we choose to be rooted in the One who loves us more than we can ever fathom.

    With the Love of Jesus,
