November 2018 Passages

November 1, 2018

Our ability to be sustained, to have what we need, is given to us by grace through faith and the choice to love Jesus with our whole heart, mind, and soul.

Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.   Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
Ephesians 6:23-24 NIV

November 2, 2018

The depth of your joy is directly proportionate to the depth of faith you have in Christ Jesus.   Joy, despite circumstances, comes from living what you believe.

Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
1 Peter 1:8 NIV

November 3, 2018

Better than the winning of a championship, obtaining a personal best, making the team, family celebration, getting a promotion, days without problems, is the Joy from Jesus with the security of eternal life, and being  loved unconditionally.

You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and new wine abound.
Psalms 4:7 HCSB

November 4, 2018

God's laws are written on our hearts.   Jesus is the gateway to those.   Faith in Christ allows us to be a temple for the Holy Spirit.   Our journey is set.   Praise Him with joy!

You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures.
Psalms 16:11 HCSB

November 5, 2018

Be so thrilled and full of excitement for Jesus that it is like throwing a high five for a job well done, dancing around for joy, running to meet the one you have missed!

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 NIV

November 6, 2018

Nothing can compare to the contentment of quenching thirst and satisfying a voracious appetite than the Word of God.

When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.
Jeremiah 15:16 NIV

November 7, 2018

The demand to stay current, have the latest and greatest, be ahead of the game, run with the popular, be in the know chains us as prisoners to the world.   It is only in Christ Jesus we are unchained, rescued, free...

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
Psalm 18:19 NIV

November 8, 2018

By faith, what is it you are called to do to bring Glory to God?

By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.   By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.   By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.   He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.   By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.   By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.
Hebrews 11:22-25, 29-30 NIV

November 9, 2018

As a pitcher pours a refreshing beverage to quench your parched mouth, God pours His Spirit into us to quench our parched soul giving hope for life.

And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Romans 5:5 NIV

November 10, 2018

Hope is a mystery.   It can't be seen, touched, or fully known.   Yet, in our faith, God's power fills us with it to live life fully.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13 NIV

November 11, 2018

When life is hard, does not make sense, feels like it is going nowhere - open your Bible.   There you will find life moment after life moment of people who suffered, placed their hope in God , and persevered.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
Romans 15:4 NIV

November 12, 2018

Oneness with other Christians is a gift.   There is comfort, reinforcement, conversation, strength, love, and friendships.   Be grateful and pray for the community of believers among you.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:5-6 NIV

November 13, 2018

You are not forgotten nor are the things you do unnoticed.   So when you place others before yourself to help family, friends, strangers; He sees and remembers .

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Hebrews 6:10 NIV

November 15, 2018

The comfort we receive from Jesus is not meant to be kept for ourselves but to in turn freely give to encourage endurance in others.

If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer.
2 Corinthians 1:6 NIV

November 16, 2018

The saying "God does not give you more than you can handle" is not biblical and in fact, false.   God is glorified through our belief that he will do through us what we know we can't do on our own.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”   Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

November 18, 2018

Paul encourages us through his story, it is God's power and strength through all trials and suffering we endure and persevere.

Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one.  Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move.  I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.  I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.
2 Corinthians 11:24-27 NIV

November 19, 2018

As Christians, our interactions with people reveal the work of Jesus in and through us; a ministry pleasing to God.

For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
2 Corinthians 2:15 NIV

November 20, 2018

By God's design, there may be times you will suffer for the benefit of someone else.  Can you think of a time you thought you "about died" going through a situation; but, you also know you would do it all over again for that one or that group who received newness in life?

For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.  So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
2 Corinthians 4:11-12 NIV

November 22, 2018

Happy Thanksgiving!  With everything you have Praise and thank God today.  Open yourself to Him as a temple welcoming him as Lord of your life!

The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord.  Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: “He is good; his love endures forever.”  Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud.
2 Chronicles 5:13 NIV

November 23, 2018

Your life impacts others.  Sometimes it is known and other times not.  Interruptions in your day or your plans can be God at work through you.  Be alert to participate.

All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 4:15 NIV

November 24, 2018

Our spiritual respiratory system is the word of God breathed in, studied, and applied which gives and sustains our life.  Sharing what you have learned with others - exhaling - gives them life.

It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”  Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.
2 Corinthians 4:13 NIV

November 25, 2018

Read the verse of this passage aloud and change the pronoun WE to the first person "I" to testify to God your faith in him and the troubles you have are but a moment in time.

"Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.  For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV

November 26, 2018

In a world where social media dominates our attention, there is temptation to play the comparison game.  Inflated and superficial understanding of what we think others have and then desire is a dangerous way to live.  Instead of asking the question "what about so and so", redirect your thoughts to what you have and can do through Jesus.

When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”   Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?  You must follow me.”
John 21:21-22 NIV

November 27, 2018

For times when belief is just plain hard, even when you know Jesus could do it but don't think you are worthy, remember to pray to help overcome your disbelief.

Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”  “From childhood,” he answered.  “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him.  But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”  “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus.  “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Mark 9:21-23 NIV

November 28, 2018

Jesus give us people to listen to our story, share the hardships, give hugs, cry with us, and give support and companionship.

For when we came into Macedonia, we had no rest, but we were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within.  But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus.
2 Corinthians 7:5-6 NIV

November 29, 2018

Resist the temptation to be all-consumed with material values and earthly success because these are illusions to fullness in life and do not last

The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.
1 John 2:17 NIV

November 30, 2018

This is sound doctrine to pray, to live by, and to teach:

"But as for you, teach the things which are in agreement with sound doctrine [which produces men and women of good character whose lifestyle identifies them as true Christians].  Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in steadfastness [Christlike in character].  Older women similarly are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor addicted to much wine, teaching what is right and good, so that they may encourage the young women to tenderly love their husbands and their children, to be sensible, pure, makers of a home [where God is honored], good-natured, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.
TITUS 2:1-5 AMP
