January 2, 2019

Interruptions in work, plans, thoughts, and desires can be a call from Jesus.  James and John were working when Jesus called them to be disciples.  May 2019 open your ears to his call.

And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets.  And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.

January 3, 2019

People can use threats and create fear in order to control others actions, thoughts, and beliefs. Jesus doesn't do that.  He teaches with true authority so we want to live and believe as He calls us to do.

And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching.  And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.

January 4, 2019

Jesus had a very busy schedule in his 3 years of ministry.  Yet, he knew the importance of taking the time to pray.  Let us learn from the example he set and take time to pray.

When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples:  “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”  &nbp; On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.   I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Transforming into the likeness of Jesus sets you apart from the worldly such that even those closest to you may not recognize why.

It is God that makes things happen.   By His grace alone, are we able to accomplish what we do.

What do you look for to protect you?   Is it an insurance policy, investments, retirement plan?   While these  are good for this present age, it is the protection and faith in Jesus that establishes your eternal life.

Sometimes we think we can protect ourselves.   The truth is only God can and he will if you trust and let him.

When motive is at it's worst, human nature has a way of judging righteously, rationalizing what is being done is ok.   We can be deceived.   Pray often to keep  what we say and do in line with God

When the smugness of others is glaring and difficult to handle; step aside and allow God to manage.
